I very rarely feel the need to critique on movies but, having just watched the 2000 Kenneth Branagh version of Loves Labours Lost on Saturday, I felt compelled to put fingers to keyboard. It’s a great starter if you want to polish up your Shakespeare!

Letters to Juliet

Romantic road movie, the beautiful Italy, full of sun, wine and love. A young American woman finds in Verona, a city where Romeo met Juliet, letter to Julia just fabulous and requesting advice on the issue of young hopeless love. The letter is from 1957. He decides to answer it and start driving poetic Italian countryside in hopes of having a very special crew. In the starring Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep’s daughter in the hit Mamma Mia, Oscar Vanessa Redgrave, and Gael García Bernal.

Letters to Juliet

A modern day young couple in New York take a prehoneymoon! to Italy. While Victor (Gael Garcia Bernal) pursues wine for his new restaurant, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) discovers a wall where distraught lovers write to Shakespeare’s Juliet, and that a team answer them. The journalist in Sophie can’t resist a 50 year old unanswered letter which brings two visitors from London on a mission to find Claire’s (Redgrave’s) old flame, and Sophie tows along with the reluctant grandson (Christopher Egan), who seem to hate each other. But what does all this mean for Sophie and Victor – and will Claire ever find her Lorenzo?
