Movie Review: Casa De Los Arabes
Casa de los Arabes, a documentary directed by John Maas, introduces the origins and purpose of the Cuban belly dancing troupe Aisha al Hanan. The filmmakers theory on his subject reveals that the women of Aisha see belly dancing as more than a form of personal self-expression, but also as a means of expressing what oppressed women in the Middle East cannot, while simultaneously raising cultural awareness in Cuba.
