Sometimes fiction is a means of illustrating the truth about the world we live in. On the surface, “They Live,” is just a B-movie of the guy-flick variety about a struggling construction worker who stumbles across a pair of unusual sunglasses. In classic guy-movie style, “They Live” features a surprisingly realistic fight scene that goes on a little too long for the sake of continuity, Although, it is not without purpose in moving the story along. Guys also seem to love the lame lines, characteristic of action films, that are scattered throughout.
This film was calculated to entertain on a very basic level. But, while it does that effectively, it also delivers a powerful message about what is really going on in the world and who – or what – is really running things behind the scenes. The “They” of the film are the quintessential “they.”
Fans of the author, David Icke, and anyone who has actually seen a demonic reptilian shape shifter will recognize the theme of the film right away.
In a nutshell, the world is run by non-humans who disguise themselves as human beings by means of a vibrational frequency. “They” are the rulers while they lull the general public into a hypnotic sleep through media, advertising and broadcast of hypnotic suggestions. Most humans remain completely unaware of the non-human species that walks among them and control everything. “They” are the television commentators, politicians, successful CEOs and other elite members of society. “They” promote themselves while they enslave the general population of humans.
The hero of the story begins having problems when one of them realizes that he can see them. “I’ve got one here who can see!” she reports. Soon, it becomes clear to him why playing by the rules and working hard hasn’t been getting him anywhere his whole life. It is because “They Live,” while “we sleep.” He tries to make other see, too, but to his disappointment many who know the secret are part of the plot against humanity.
A small group of conscious humans, under cover of religion, organize to awaken humanity and reveal the plan that “They” have to keep humanity unconscious and enslaved. The good guys win by dismantling the frequencies that “They” are broadcasting, thus unmasking the diabolical non-humans for all to see.
