The Six Most Tragic Female Characters in Movies!

Yes, they exist too. They don’t have to be tear jerking movies particularly but there are some endings that are extremely staggering. We’ll start with the mildest to the worst on this one………………

1.)  When Ms. Jean Brodie, of the movie “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” played by Maggie Smith  screams “Assassin” to her precocious Student who exacted punishment because of her dislike for Miss Brodie you will find out why. Ms. Brodie who plays a Teacher who  is airy, opinionated, proper and seems to show favoritism to the more popular and interesting students,  makes Pamela Franklin’s character dislike her because Ms. Franklin’s  friend, who is shy and worships Miss Brodie but is ignored by her, meets with tragedy….

2.)  Joan Crawford’s character in “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane” is very sad indeed at the end but didn’t she sort of make things happen to make Baby Jane, her little Sister so…..what’s the word?  Crazy?  You be the judge.  Just the same, she is so pitiful and horrendously mistreated……………

3.) What Celie  of the Movie, The Color Purple had to endure with the man whom she thought was her father and the husband that her father leased her out to -  referred to only as Mr., rendered her one of the most pitiful female Heroines ever.  But at least the saga gave her a chance to get something back in the most astonishing way…..

4.) Anthony Quinn played the Role of a Lifetime in the movie titled “La Strada”.   La Strada means Road and he travels it to find venues for his exhibits as a Strong Man.  Along the way he meets the sweetest huge-eyed female played by Giulietta Masina, which Mr. Quinn’s character Stumpada, buys from her mother.    He uses her body, and mind to his convenience, kills a potential Suitor of hers and abandons her.  His conscious does eat at him to try and go back to find her only to discover something startling………..

5.)  Terence Stamp loves to collect Butterflies  but turns into a “Collector” of other things that don’t belong in the insect world.  His hobby accounts for the name of the Novel and Movie.  His cruel, selfish, Socipathic reasoning starts him to Collect beautiful females!  He is so sadistic in toying with the feelings of his kidnapped Victim played by Samantha Egger.  She finally finds a way to escape from that English Country home…………..

6.)  Rosemary’s Baby continues to be one of the most tragic of all, with Rosemary Woodhouse being psychologically, spiritually, physically abused  by her Satanic neighbors, you just cannot find any help for her and wonder at the end will she experience a transformation to her beliefs in finding love for  the Devil child she delivered  and thus becoming……..
