Terminator Salvation

Judgment day is not that far away, and McG has just given us a look at it.

Set before John Connor (Christian Bale) sends his father Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) back to save, and then impregnate his mother, [time travel hurts my mind,] the movie mainly centres around a plot to kill off Skynet with short wave radios? and guy called  Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) who seems to be an inside out cyborg with a very tin man like real heart, who seems to be like John Connor trying to save kiddie Reese.

Terminator Salvation is your usual Sci-fi fair. John Brancato and Michael Ferris’s (Writers) script is high action and low brow, bringing nothing new to the franchise, but at the same time not taking much away. We had all wanted to see the movie that was set after Skynet had taken over but all we got was a load of new terminators and some nice shots of the local scenery. What happened to the post-apocalyptic mess we had seen in the other movies? Where were the piles of human skulls? As your typical action movie it works, you have your gun fights, your car chases and your buddy moments, but after the travesty that was T3 we wanted something to make up for the bad taste, and instead of cleaning the pallet this movie just masked that taste with something bland. Also the self referencing of the other Terminator movies overshadowed the one true moment of genius this movie had as you see the first T800 coming of the production line and low and behold it had Senator  Arnold Schwarzenegger young face superimposed on a body double. This should have gotten my geek juices flowing but by that stage we had heard every other in joke it had lost it’s cool, like Bale co0ming off with “I’ll be back”.

This was just another Sci-Fi Action movie, not the groundbreaking move forward we expected from McG (Director). The fight just did not seem desperate enough for me, like all of humanity was relying on the resistance to save them. The Sarah Connor Chronicles seemed to do a much better of the future scenes and it is doing it with a TV budget.
