I’m a strange believer that classic movies are good movies. The problem is that everyone sees a classic movie as a black and white badly written peace of junk staring Humphrey Bogart. Not that I have anything against Bogie but I just don’t agree with that sentiment.
Logan’s Run is one of the many sci-fi flicks that predates Star Wars so you don’t see the good SFX you see now. That means that this movie was made in a time when you had to tell a good story to make money. With good actors like Michael York and a great director like Michael Anderson you can easily see how a good movie is made.
In the 23rd century man has moved into great domed cities after decimating Earth’s surface. Life’s great in the dome. Your food is free, no rent; no need for money and a computer that dose all your thinking for you runs it all. The catch? On your 30th birthday you must go to Carousel and be destroyed under the guise that you are soon to be reborn.
Enter Logan, a cop of this world commonly known as a Sandman. He is chosen by the computer to find the rebel hideout known as Sanctuary. The remainder of his time is erased and finds himself doing as the people he once hunted and is forced to run.
I can’t tell you too much more without giving away too much of the plot and ruining the movie for you. It is one of my favorites and I truly believe that anyone who gives it a chance will like it too.
Enjoy.
