On many sites though out the internet, have asked all the questions and yet we don’t get the answers at all. Looking back on the years of this one franchise, I can understand the fans objections to each of its shows. Some are not willing or open minded as others are.
For an example:
A fan of DS9 gets on the web and states his mind about the captain of the station.
A different fan that has been watching Voyager does the same thing but states that DS9 fan is dumber than a dog.
That person takes an offense to that as he/she is reading the comment.
He/she swears and points out horrible facts that DS9 was a waste of time.
A third person gets in on it and states that both shows are just as good. Both parties now gang up on this one person only to be shot down.
People may have opinions, but freedom of speech has hit rock bottom. My whole point is, if we’re so narrow minded then there was a high chance that fewer fans would go in a corner of their own world and watch it a failing franchise until the bitter end.
Two points here are that Paramount needs to gain money to keep this franchise alive and well. But neither side is winning, one it’s the fans fault for not watching nor caring about Star Trek and second this so called franchise needs to come down to earth.
I do hope that J.J Adams film is successful, but at what price are the fans will pay attention and for how long. This proves my whole point, for so long Rick Bermin and the others that have helmed each series has failed in bringing Trek back to earth. Realism is now in, drama is important but there is also the idea of fantasy as well.
If they want Star Trek to be successful again then they need to reach for our hearts. It needs to be like BSG, and Star Gate. Maybe a little more like an epic as well. Get our attention for once and hold it.
