Twilight Saga and The Rest of The Cullen Family

Twilight fans adore Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson). Sure, there is also a tremendous amount of admirers who love Taylor Lautner’s Jacob Black but vampire-wise speaking, the series offer more than one vampire.

The Cullens form one intriguing and impressive family.

*The father (Carlisle Cullen) is played by Peter Facinelli (above in the picture- third from the right), who I knew much before than I met Robert Pattinson. Facinelli has played in a nice little thriller called Tempted, alongside Burt Reynolds. Reynolds’ character pays Facinelli’s character to seduce his pretty and younger wife. It’s just one of those low budget cat-mouse movies. Maybe it is a little predictable but still fun to watch. So it is safe to say Facinelli’s character in Tempted doesn’t exactly possess the class or the morals of the worldly and wise Carlisle. Another notable performance of his is in Supernova. Sure, it is not a very high-rated movie but still it is a watchable thriller and Peter really pulls of psycho well. He is also a very attractive and talented actor. It’s just that there is a chance the Edward and Jacob fans might be overlooking Peter Facinelli. He has also appeared in hit shows like Six Feet Under and Damages. Peter was born in 1973 so I think he is the perfect age to play Carlisle. It is funny that the nicest guy he has played is a vampire. Acting can be an interesting craft.

*The mother Esme Cullen is played by Elizabeth Reaser (above, third from the left) and she did appear in Grey’s anatomy as a former patient/lost interest of Dr. Alex Karev. I have to say she wasn’t the most entertaining character of the bunch and her character’s story line was pretty unstable (along with her character.) But then again, for me Grey’s Anatomy lost its charm after 1&2 seasons.

That being said, I absolutely love Esme Cullen. Bella couldn’t have asked for a better mother for her boyfriend. Esme is loving, kind and sweet. She is also as composed and controlled as Carlisle so she is virtually of no threat to Bella. I wish such a too-good-to-be character existed in real life. If she does (minus the part about being a vampire of course), I’d want that kind of mother-in-law. Man, relationships would have fewer problems if your partner had a mother like that.

*The Siblings

- Emmett Cullen: The hunky and fun boy of the family and the partner of Rosalie. It looks like he doesn’t feel like his soul is damned. Or maybe he does but just doesn’t give a damn. Books provide more info and parts for the rest of the family of course but the movies are not so bad. Kellan Lutz (on the left) brings the right amount of energy and adorable cheekiness to his part. Well, I don’t have much insight into Kellan’s other roles since I got to be aware of his existence through the Twilight Saga. But he is fun to watch and I hope he gets other fun gigs after this. He sure seems to be enjoying playing Emmett. Emmett is super-strong, very tall and good-looking. It is a nice change from Edward. I like Edward, it is just… He can be such a drama queen sometimes.

-Jasper Cullen: Jasper (on the right) can control emotions. He is with Alice and they make a cute little couple. Sure, his make-up and hair look the weirdest among the bunch. He sort of reminds me of Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands. As much as he can make the moods calm, he doesn’t have the blood resistance the rest of the family possesses so he does ignite a little trouble in New Moon. If only Bella were a vampire…

Jackson Rathbone plays Jasper.

-Alice Cullen: Bella’s best friend. Alice (above – second from the right) can see the future and seems the opposite of Bella in many ways: She is energetic, sociable and she likes to shop. She is colorful and cheerful. But she is friendly and she loves Bella. Alice is played by Ashley Greene.

-Rosalie Cullen: She is played by Nikki Reed (above – second from the left). Rosalie at first despises Bella and she is the least welcoming of the pack. But Bella proves to more than a liability so even Rosalie has to back off a bit. I saw Reed in Lords of Dogtown (of course I remember Heath Ledger and not Nikki Reed, but still…)

Good cast. I also heard that they all get along very well off the set. If you are interested in the backgrounds on these characters, don’t worry. Eclipse will provide you with that and also a lot more kick-ass action. Twilight was the introduction. New Moon makes way for Jacob Black’s transformation. With eclipse, all we are headed for is action. And it is cool that the producers are not going to make us wait for a year.
