Couples Retreat

Couples Retreat is basically a PG-13 romantic comedy, starring Vince Vaughn and Kristen Bell . The movie is directed by Peter Billingsley, about four couples who are in various states of marriage problems and undergoing therapy and marriage counselling. Some of them are OK and the others think they are done with marriage and thinking about getting divorce. One of the couples decide that they will try to fix their marriage problems and sign up the other couples to go to an island resort and from there, they go through a lot of emotional distress. They soon discover that participation in the resorts couples therapy is not optional.

The storyline is kind of predictable and you can tell what will happen next most of the time. The acting performance is not extraordinary but all the actors tried to performed their best. The film is cute but not hilarious or amazing. The whole movie falls short of its goals. The jokes are flat and sometimes disappointing.

The only best thing in the movie is that they filmed it in Bora Bora, a beautiful location which looks like a screen-saver. Most of the time the movie feels more like a family get together. The end of movie got little cheesy but it has a little message which is surprising for a romantic comedy. Over all Couples Retreat is a funny movie which is not very well done. The editing and directing of the movie is good enough to watch it once.
