I recently finished reading this novel on , and found it to be a real page turner. In 1866, an exclusive boys school , one of the students drowns. Three of his friends were present at the time of the accident: The aggressive Hugh Pilaster, his already depraved older cousin Edward-heir to the family fortune, and Mickey Miranda, the good looking son of a tyrannical South American landowner. Over the course of three decades, the lies and betrayals the boys told on the day of the drowning spin out of control, pulling more and more people into the web of lies and deceit. This book definitely has a mesmerizing plot and solid characterizations. It also had a lot of twists and turns where you thought you knew what was going to happen and something totally different happened.
