It has a Korean and American suspense horror twist. It is directed by one of the best directors, Rico Maria Ilarde, under Star Cinema for its 16th anniversary. Four famous young actors and actresses portrayed four different characters – Shaina Magdayao, Jake Cuenca, Geoff Eigenmann and Maja Salvador. With the participation of John Estrada, John Arcilla, Ronnie Lazaro, Rubi Rubi, Celine Lim, Noemi Oineza, Liza Lorena, and Empoy Marquez. I really recommend this film to the horror flick addicts because of its highest quality rating.
Who is Andrea?
There is a mystery behind her missing. Her father, the caretaker of Villa Estrella Resort, is longing for her. He prayed to his patron saints that one day Andrea will come back to his arms. Andrea is a loving and caring daughter. All she wanted to have is a simple and blissful life with her father.
Who is Ana?
Ana is a lonely girl who missed her mother who passed away when she was a child. She has an alcoholic father who always hit her when he is drunk. She is tired of her relationship of her boyfriend Alex so she broke up with him. She has found a new boyfriend Dennis but her father is not approved of their relationship because of his lowly status. But, Dennis wanted to prove that he is deserving for Ana.
What is the mystery of Villa Estrella?
Villa Estrella is an old resort that would be renovated by the business partners – Alex’s father and Ana’s father. Every year, there is always found missing in Villa Estrella or someone get drowned in their pool. The old beliefs said that it could be cause of the wandering spirits who wanted to avenge their death.
The Climax:
When the little girl Jennifer was drowned in the resort’s pool, she was recovered but with the different identity, her playmate Danica. The phantom of Danica possessed the body of Jennifer. And, it was lastly realized by Ana through the explanation to her by her gypsy friend. Then, she discovered something about Giselle. Andrea was pretending to be Giselle so she can get Ana’s trust.
Andrea was molested by Alex’s father and was killed by Ana’s father at the muddy lake. Her body is buried under the pool of the resort. She wanted to get justice for her death so she wanted to use Ana. Andrea would like to possess Ana’s body so she can be with her father and she succeeded doing it.
My Opinion:
The story of the movie is not just any fancy horror stories of phantoms, encantos, spirits, or aswangs. The story has a soft touch – the love of a daughter to her father. I also recommend this movie for the celebration of Father’s day, to honor all fathers who endure all the hardships for their beloved children.
