Top 10 Horror Movies

Although everyone has their own opinions on what movies should make this list I hope some of you will agree that these deserve their positions.

I’ve always been a huge fan of horror and mystery, watching and reading everyone I could get my hands on. Opinions vary greatly over the top films but here are mine. Are yours on this list?

1: Nightmare On Elm Street- 1984

A Nightmare on Elm Street

The first nightmare hooked me and I truly enjoy all of the sequels. Freddy Kruegar is a supernatural villain whom comes into children’s dreams. If they die while dreaming than they die in real life also. He is seeking revenge against the parents of the Elm Street children whom killed and hid his body years before.

2: Saw 1- 2004

This movie has one of the best endings I’ve ever seen. It begins with two men chained up in a room with a dead body lying between them. The torture scenes are well thought out and even gives the victim a chance to survive but always at a serious price to pay. I think the sequels get bloodier and more gruesome each time. Can’t wait for Saw 5 to be released. Jigsaw is a great villain.

3: The Exorcist- 1973

The Exorcist

The first time I ever saw this movie I was around 12 years old and I had nightmares for weeks afterwards. A 12 year old girl becomes possessed by a demon and her only hope at salvation is a frail priest. The priest attempts an exorcism in hopes of saving her soul. Full of head spinning, evil talking excitement. It still freaks me out.

4: Halloween- 1978

It begins with Michael Myers, as a child, stabbing and killing his seventeen year old sister on Halloween night. Fifteen years later, after being committed all that time Myers escapes. Returning to his home town he stalks and kills the teenagers on Halloween night. A true slasher film but one of the best.

5: The Shining-1980

ShiningI

In my opinion one of Jack Nicholson’s best performances. He plays Jack, a frustrated author who takes a job as caretaker to a hotel that has closed down for the winter. Finding out the previous caretaker went crazy and slaughtered his entire family did nothing to change Jack’s mind. Believing this had nothing to do with him, Jack soon learns very differently.

6: Seven-1995

7: Dawn of the Dead- 1978

8: Psycho- 1960

9: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- 1974

10: The Dark Secret of Harvest Home- 1978

Well there’s my top 10 horror movies. What are your’s?
