Review: The Uninvited (2009)
This movie had to be seen in cinemas. But since it’s already out…
I love horror movies. I love them more than a hot dog with cheese. I love the adrenaline rush I get from being scared out of my skin.
When I heard “The Uninvited” was coming out I knew I had to watch it. I had already seen the original “A Tale of Two Sisters”, a Korean horror. And I was pretty sure this movie would receive a lot of Internet bashing because it was an American remake of an Asian film.

Since “The Ring” came out in 2002 and its box office success, there have been a lot of American adaptations of Asian horrors including “The Eye” and “One Missed Call”, both I really enjoyed.

I wouldn’t really call “The Uninvited” a horror. It wasn’t scary. I didn’t scream like I usually did in horrors. It was a psychological thriller. And anyone that knows me well knows that I love these types of movies more than I love horrors. And I’d already told you how much I love horrors.

The critics gave this movie a bad review but I really liked it. So it’s either my standards are higher or lower than theirs. I’d like to think they’re higher.
It stars Australia’s Emily Browning (A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)), Arielle Kebbel (The Grudge 2 (2006)), Elizabeth Banks (Zack & Miri Make a Porno (2008)) and David Strathairn (The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)).
It’s about a girl whose mother dies in a boat explosion. Her father remarries and she is sent to an institution to cope with her grief. The movie starts from when she is released.
If you see this movie at the video store, be sure to take it home. And I don’t mean shoplifting.
And if you do get a chance to watch it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Best wishes!
