Proof: Horror Films Won’t Make Kids Go Mental!

A look on the reasons why…really…the parents are to blame.

On the 13th August 2009 i witnessed a moment which will be considered a breakthrough in proving the stereotypical views of parents across the world wrong. As i am the only soul witness it is I who must spread the news across the world of this landmark moment in the debate around children and certificated films and so I begin!

on the 13th August 2009, on a lazy Thursday afternoon (all days are lazy if your a student) I walked into the lounge and decided to watch T.V. needless to say their wasn’t much on and after watchin 20 minutes of Loose Women” and trying to discover how anyone could consider it quality viewing, i decided that a DVD would probably be a better choice. The DVD i chose was “Hostel” not the most pleasant afternoon viewing i must say but as it was either that or dirty dancing i think i made the right choice.

Half way through this Gorey and gut wrenching film i fell asleep, and when i woke up (due to the loud screaming coming from the T.V) i found my 13 year old sister keenly taking in the gory scenes from the film!

I Instantly Panicked “CRAP!” i thought as i leaped towards the Television and pulled out nearly all the sockets in an attempt to end the torture scene on the screen. a poor choice considering that the remote was resting on the arm of the chair i was sitting in.

“What are you doing?” My sister asked, shocked by my sudden hatred for technology.

“You can’t watched that!” i replied quite shakily. “The rents will kill me, and you’ll go insane! that’s how kids react to films like this!”

For the rest of the week i lived in fear… everyone has heard stories of the kids who play Grand Theft Auto or watched the Texas chainsaw massacre, and then gone out and tried to copy the films! look at Scream! Any day i was expecting a phone call from her asking what my favourite scary movie was!

but as the week ended, nothing happened… i was fine, the closest thing to an attempt on my life that week was her treading on my foot.

So what dos this mean? Basically folks, I’m guessing that the kids that have been known to blow a gasket and go on a rampage, must have been completely off their nut anyway! the films only gave them a couple of ideas on how to get back at their parents/school mates.

so from reading this article you can take away 2 things:

A) Kids don’t go insane if they watch scary films.

B) If they do go insane then don’t blame it on the film you’ve probably done something to mentally scar them in the first place

hahaha….that made me laugh out loud, literally! and I think you are right about the films NOT making kids mad but I have seen Hostel,1and 2 and had a hard time dealing with them myself let alone a child watching them. I think if the child is as grown up as your sister seems to be and they know its acting and not real its OK after all there are some scary, horrid bits in Harry Potter!

But please do keep up the relax humour and carry on making me laugh!
