Paranormal Activity: Hype Worth It?
Been wondering about the new hit horror flick of year, Paranormal Activity? Why Oren Peli was backed up by Spielberg.. Read more to find the juicy details.
First I must say I was skeptical about this flick as you probably are if you haven’t seen this movie yet. Only the hype. I love horror flicks but it seems now’a days, horror just isn’t what it used to be. Thats where Paranormal Activity comes into play. Using only a mere $15,000, Peli (Director of Paranormal Activity) got his monies worth on this production. This movie takes you back to the good old days where everything wasn’t so digitaly created, where the movie actually kick started your imagination and and led you create the monster in your own mind, which would in tern send your imagination spiraling down deeper and deeper with absolute fear and anticipation for the big climax!
Steven Spielberg was said to have taken a copy of the film home to review. According to Spielberg, mintues after viewing the film his bedroom doors “mysteriously” locked themselves. Spielberg was trapped in his bed room with the film until a locksmith was called in order to get the director our of said bedroom. Spielberg was so spooked that he actually carried the film back to DreamWorks studio in a garbage bag. I suppose trash bags have to power to retain demonicly posseded DVDs.
REVIEW: Warning this movie is a bit slow! If your looking for a quick scare where stuff digitally jumps out at you every 5 minutes go watch Drag me to Hell (sarcasm ). But trust me when I say good things come to those who ARE PATIENT! Though I didn’t have the problem in the theater. People were actually walking out nearly half way through the film. But not because those movie was quick “FAIL” material. But because people were getting too freaked out, even during the slow parts. This movie is definetaly “Creepy” as hell. Another detail to add is the camera. The camera used in the film actually belongs to the boyfriend in the movie. So sometimes its a bit fuzzy/blurry especially during quick movements. But on the upside thats what happends when you film with a comercial camcorder, bringing even more realisticn feel to this movie, In tern scaring you more.
Conclusion: As for the entire movie I give it an 8.5, ending I give 9.0 but trust me, thats saying a lot for a horror flick. This movie is a must see! If its playing in a selected theatre near you. I RECOMEND going to see this flick ESPECIALLY if you really dig horror flick and like myself, having seen a good horror flick in ages.
