This spine tingling tale of an avenging witch, starts in the year 1785, an old woman who, immigrated over to Maryland in the States, from Ireland who was called Elly Kedward, found herself becoming a legend of a town called Blair, now known as Burkittsvill.

The town Elly found herself settling in was called Blair at the time. The towns people were suspicious of Elly, she kept herself to herself, but it did not help, and one day the towns people made the discovery that Elly had been tempting children to her house and once there she drew blood from them.

In 1786 Elly was soon accused of witchcraft, and was at the Mersey of the towns people. The towns people did not want themselves being charged with murder so they decided to cast out Elly from the town and send her to live in the woods. For Elly’s punishment they cast her out of the village with nothing but the clothes she stoop up in, it was winter at the time of the out cast and the weather was harsh. The towns people all presumed Elly would die from the weather conditions and the problem would be solved.

By the end of the winter, most of the children in Blair went missing. The towns people blamed Elly for the disappearance of their children, and giving Elly the nickname of the Blair witch, they proclaimed that the black woods where cursed by the Blair witch.

The towns people soon left Blair because of their fear of the curse, and promised themselves never to speak Elly kedwards name again.

The town Blair was discovered again when a railway was going to run near by it. The new settlers renamed it Burkittsville.

One year later a little girl called Eileen Treacle was pulled into the Tappy East creek, by a ghostly hand. There was elven witnesses who watched the little girl being dragged under the shallow waters. Eileen’s body was never found. Thirteen days after the drowning the creek was said to be awash with stick figures.

A farmer told a story of how he had to move his cattle from the creek area, because his cows that drunk from the creak ended up dying, and his cows were having calves born with defects.

In march 1886 another little girl called Robin Weaver had been reported missing in the woods. A search party was sent out to look for her, but she returned with a fearful story. Robin explained that an old woman appeared to her in the woods and she did not walk she floated, Robin when on to say the old woman to her to her house and put her in the basement and told her to wait there, and the old woman left, Robin stood there, seeing an opened window Robin had climbed out a ran to safety.

The first search party that was sent out to look for Robin went missing. Another search party was sent out to look for them. When the second search party finely came across the missing party, they were horrified at what they found. The first search party’s body’s were disembowelled and placed upon Coffin rock, with strange Pagan symbols carved into their faces and feet. Returning back the second search party had brought with them the sheriff with them, only to find no body’s at all only the smell of death hung in the air. The body’s from the first search party were never found again.

The Blair witch legend brought to life:

In November 1940 the local children, starting to go missing between the dates of November 1940.

On May 25th 1941 an old man called Rustin Parr, who lived on his own in a house on a hill in the woods, came down in to local Burkittsville market place, and shouts out “I’ve finely finished.” The police had gotten wind of this strange statement and hiked up to his house wondering what had he finished?

What they found was appalling. On examining the basement they found body’s of children, ritualistically disembowelled, with Pagan symbols carved upon them.

When Rustin was asked to explain his actions he told the police, that an old woman who appeared to him in a long dark hooded cloak, when he was out walking in the woods, he tried to talk to her but she disappeared Rustin told of an voice of the old lady that was let in his head telling him, to go down to Burkittsvill and take the first two children he saw. Rustin found himself doing this and on the seventh child, the old woman appeared to him again and told him he was finished and to go down to the town and tell every one that he has finished. If he did this she would leave him alone forever. Rustin confessed to the murders, after this Rustin when insane after this and was institutionalised for the rest of his life until his death in 1971 he was convicted and hanged.

There is a move out that is said to be the search for the Blair witch, strange things things happened while three students make a film about the urban legend, of the Blair witch. The three student went into the woods and disappear, a year later the footage of their recordings were found and held some scare stuff.

Most people say the film is fiction some people say it was the Blair witch that took the students, what ever the truth the legend of the Blair witch, and the film The Blair Witch Project scared me silly!
