Synopsis: After an ancient Native American burial ground brings his cat back to life, a young doctor decides to try to revive his deceased son despite the potential consequences.
Who’s in it? Dale Midkiff, Fred Gwynne and Denise Crosby.
What I liked about this movie: When I first started watching this film, I didn’t think it would be overly scary. But, I have to admit, there were times when I found myself creeped out a bit.
This is especially true of the scenes involving his newly revived son. Maybe it’s because I have kids of my own, but there is something extremely terrifying about a murderous toddler with supernatural strength and other abilities.
I’m a huge Fred Gwynne fan and have to say I was somewhat impressed with his character in this movie. He was one of those people who could be a good guy or could have a secret, ulterior motive behind his actions and I wasn’t really sure of which category he fell into until toward the end.
What I didn’t like about this movie: I’m just not a huge Denise Crosby fan. I wasn’t impressed with her on Star Trek Enterprise and she really didn’t win me over in this movie either. Her acting was very stiff and unbelievable.
Again, this is probably because I’m a parent, but I also found this movie to be a bit too emotional to be overly scary. Let’s face it; their toddler son is hit by a truck. That’s depressing. And, even the scary parts with zombie-like son were still depressing because he was still their kid.
Final Opinion: This is an OK movie but not as good as I was expecting it to be.
My Grade: 3 stars out of a possible 5.
