If, like me, you often find yourself battling with the missus as she tries to subject you to yet another chick flick, then this is the ideal form of retaliation. Brian (Liam Neeson) starts out desperate to rekindle the relationship he has with his daughter (Maggie Grace from Lost), after a life dedicated to his career. Under pressure to please he succumbs to teenage perseverance and agrees to let her go travelling to Paris with a friend. However, within moments of arriving, the girls get abducted. If this wasn’t gripping enough, I neglected to mention that Brian is a former CIA Agent, and is incredibly overprotective of his daughter. Uh oh!
The rest of the film is pretty much summed up by his classic quote, “If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.” Luckily for us they choose the latter, and the next hour consists of Neeson wreaking havoc through the streets of Paris, leaving no stone unturned and very few people alive.
If you’re looking for an hour and a half of no-nonsense action then this is the film for you! Entertainment at its finest; make sure you don’t miss this thrilling masterpiece.
