Adrielle’s Horror Predictions
These are some predictions for horror movies about to come out soon.
There are some horror movies coming out, and I’m going to predict which ones of them are going to be worth it, and which will be a waste of time, money and effort.
The remake of “Nightmare on Elm Street” : Nope, uh-uh…if you think by what the trailer showed us that this is going to be worth the ticket, you are sadly mistaken. It’s “trailer-trickery” as I like to call it, where they work more on the trailer than the movie, because they don’t care as long as you buy the ticket. First, many of us have said that Robert Englund is the only person who can play Freddy, and it’s absolutely true! From what we can see in the previews: the face is weird, the voice is awkward, and the personality is gone. Where is that Freddy charm? Trust me, I’m hoping I’m wrong about this. Growing up, Nightmare on Elm St. was a personal favorite. Not just the first, but the entire collection (excluding that atrocity Freddy Vs. Jason. We’ll pretend that one never existed.) When I first heard they were remaking it, I thought “Boooo…no, they’re going to mess it up like with so many other remakes.” Then, I saw tiny clips and thought maybe it’ll be ok, but after seeing a full trailer last night, I believe now that it’s going to be another classic ruined in my eyes.
Wolfman. Words can not express just exactly how excited I am for this movie to come out! First of all, three words: Benicio Del Toro! I have never thought about it, but who better to play this classic role of man and beast? The trailer looks absolutely amazing and I squealed in delight after seeing it. The dark mysteriousness, the intensity of it all, and yes, Benicio Del Toro. He is a terrific actor and will be supported by an amazing cast. Ladies and gents, this is going to be one of the good remakes. One that makes you stand up and clap. From what I can tell, they stuck to the original style of how the wolfman looked, but obviously with a modern update. This lady of horror completely approves.
Let’s move on to Shutter Island. I have not gotten a chance to read the book, although a friend of mine has, and he said it is amazing. Now, I am excited for the movie. Leonardo Dicapprio has become a fabulous actor over the years, leaving lasting impressions on us. I understand movies usually ruin books (Ex: Eragon, Desperation) From the stand point of someone who has read the book, my friend has stated that he was excited by the preview. From the point of someone who has not read the book, I am equally excited. The visuals are stunning and the cast seems just right for this movie. So in my opinion, this is going to be worth a trip to the theater, and I do in fact plan on picking up the book.
Now, I will be seeing all of these, and will have reviews about them all. If I’m wrong, I will suck up my pride and admit it. But being a horror fanatic, I’m pretty sure I’m right about these. My friends think I’m a nut-case, my family says I’m addicted, but one things for sure, when they have questions about anything horror…they call me.
