As of last week the production company Platnium Dunes wrapped principal shooting on the much debated A Nightmare On Elm St. This ”reboot” of the Wes Craven 1984 classic has had many horror movie fans screaming at the top of there lungs. From the moment it was announced that New line Cinema and Platnium Dunes where bringing back the burned razor gloved wearing child murderer the fans raced to there favorite horror movie site. The common thread of there discution was simple. ” Robert Englund is Freddy!” The fans had spoken but would the Micheal Bay and company listen. The answer to that question was answered when Brad Fuller of Platnium Dunes said they were taking horror fans concerns seriously and would use that to give the fans what they want. Now I am a fan of the original series. However I was one of the many who felt that any one other then Robert Englund as Freddy would be disasterous. With the release of the new movie still a year away we must be forced to wait for not just the new Freddy Krueger but we must also wait for the changes they have made to this beloved slasher film. Some changes were made openly. The names of most of the characters were different.. The characters Nancy and Freddy stayed the same. Some other changes have not yet been revealed. The biggest one is what Freddy looks like. Brad Fuller once again posted on the Platnium Dunes web site that the new Freddy (played by Watchmen star Jackie Earl Hayley) also has a more gruesome appearence. He stated that Freddy looks like a real burn victim. Yet to this date no pictures have surfaced of the new make up. In the latest update Brad Fuller made his feelings known that he does not appriciate the fans of the series making early assumptions on Jackie Earl Hayley’s performance of the gloved one. His rant however may only further isolate the hardcore fans. At this time we know that Jackie Earl Hayley has signed on to play Freddy Krueger for a total of three films.
