Although I was a history major in junior high school as we called it back then I never like it when an actor plays a real person. Well I ate my words a little the other day after my brother and I went to see the movie FROST/NIXON. The acting is superb, the story brought up so many vivid memories for the both of us as we were watching the movie, e.g. Watergate (of course), The Vietnam War, Haldeman/Erlichman/Mitchell/Dean/Kissinger/Johnson/Kennedy/Pat Nixon, even Diane Sawyer. As we were leaving the theater I said to my brother I thank the Lord that we did not have to go to Vietnam, but we did have to go down to the post office to register for the draft. Even to this day neither one of us knows why we the U.S. went to Vietnam let alone what the war was about.
We both remembered the day that Nixon resigned, we remember where we were, the debates and so many other historical facts that director Ron Howard and his crew so accurately pointed out in the movie. I think this movie will be added to my DVD collection when it comes out on DVD. I enjoyed the movie, I hated for it to end and Frank Langella did a superb job playing the role of Tricky Dick aka President Richard M. Nixon.
