Why Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood is The Best

Why Kevin Costners Robin Hood is the best depiction of the character of Robin Hood.

Kevin Costner’s depiction of the character of Robin Hood seems to get a lot of flak from what I’ve seen and yet i consider him the best, anyone who disagrees is an idiot. Here’s why he is the best.

The Kevin Costner movie dispensed with EVERYTHING that bogged and dragged down the Robin hood movies up to that point. It got rid of the the humour, the swashbuckling, British accents, adventure, Prince John. What did we get? The best Robin hood movie. Dances with Wolves, meets Driving Miss Daisy and Sheriff of Nottingham played by Hans Gruber is great as a bad guy. Never has there been a more menacing Sheriff of Nottingham.

/Sarcasm

OK, OK. I was being sarcastic there. Although, Sheriff Hans Gruber played by Alan Rickman really IS GENUINELY a great bad guy. Alan Rickman is always a great bad guy in any movie. Anyway, i was originally not going to write this section or put in the “/Sarcasm” at the end but then i realised that people may not actually notice sarcasm since 1) People are generally stupid for the most part and 2) Sarcasm can definitely be hard to find when it’s text based and not made completely obvious like I’m doing now.

I actually think that the best Robin Hood movie was Men in Tights with Cary Elwes. I grew up watching that movie, i had it since i was about 5 and remember watching it almost daily on VHS, still works too. I really should think about buying it on DVD at one point since the shitty VHS is bound to wear out one day.
