Harry Potter The Half Blood Prince

The lack of information to set up the upcoming movies.

I am and always a Harry Potter fan.  So what, I am one of millions.  I have waited years, weeks, days, hours, minutes for the books and movies.  So to my surprise I was upset by the lack of important events that didn’t happen in the new movie.

I tend to watch a movie for the sheer enjoyment, then I watch again for critiquing. Heck, I’ll watch it 3 or more times.  So when my list kept growing of what I felt was important facts that set up the seventh year at hogwarts I was actually getting upset.

One, very little explanation to Dumbledore’s ever blackening hand.  You, didn’t notice.  Yup, that’s what I got when I discussed the movie with other Harry Potter fans.

Second, Morvolo’s ring.  Whose ring.  Oh yeah Tom Riddle’s grandfathers ring.  You know the one that caused Dumbledore’s hand to blacken.

Third, Harry was suppose to hide the book in the room requirements because its a huge clue to finding the horicrux.  (sorry if you haven’t read the seventh book)

Fourth,  what happened to Dobby.  The cute, lovable house elf.  Haven’t seen him since the second movie.  He does play a big part in the books.

Fifth, Sorry Harry your god father was murdered.. YOU GET NOTHING.  He actually inherited Grimwald Place, Kreature, Buckbeak, and all contents of the house.    AGAIN important fact.  Mostly because of Kreature.

I can go on.  My question is to the movie makers HAVE YOU READ THE BOOKS?  DO YOU CARE THAT YOU DO UPSET HARRY POTTER FANs?  I was so excited to after reading every book in hopes the movies would be closer to the books.  Yet,  I was deeply disappointed with this movie.

Oddly,  I did put my mind to enjoy it. To pretend I didn’t read the book.  I enjoyed it.  Will I buy the movie?  Of course.  I am a Harry Potter fan.  Will I put it in my dvd player and sit and watch it again?  Yes, I will.

I plead with the movie makers why ruin wonderfully written book.  Sure I know not everything can go in the movie.  But those who don’t read the books want a great movie to watch that they hope reflect the book.  Yet,  when conversations come up talking about movie verses book.  I find myself almost reciting the books.  So they actually understand what is really going on.

ALL in all I’m still a fan.  Along with my children, friends and family.  My friends and I will actually watch harry Potter in sequence.  Shoot we will even reread the books.  I’m reading the seventh book for a third time.
