Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

 I just got back from seeing the new Harry Potter movie. It was great. I was going to see it at midnight, but I told my room mate that I would go see it with her. A promise is a promise. We saw the 1-ish o’clock showing at Regal and we got there in plenty of time to get good parking, popcorn and drinks, and great seats. Thank goodness we got there when we did because if we got there any later, it would have been a mad house. The theater was totally packed by the time the trailers came on. There weren’t too many small children there either. Yeah for us. I swear though that they had to have put something in the drinks because it seemed that midway through the movie everyone got up to pee. We were not those people.

 Well, when the movie started, it went without a hitch. Even if you have never seen a Harry Potter film, you could easily understand the story line. This was my first time seeing Harry Potter in the movies. I usually would just catch stuff like this on cable. And, I actually have seen all of the other movies out of order. So, for me to understand the movie was great. I was totally amazed by how the characters had physically grown up and their social maturity. It was well scripted. These kids have dedicated the majority of their lives doing these films. I applaud them. To have that kind of dedication is amazing.

 If you have read the book, you always know that the books are always better than the movies because there is only but so much you can put into a movie. This being true though, the movie was still awesome to watch. For that amount of time you are there. You really feel like you have gone with these characters on this amazing adventure. You somehow seem transported to Hogwarts. You can feel the warmth of the candles in the dining hall, the wetness of the water, and the smell of the concoctions waiting to be stirred. I know this was an awesome experience for me having never seen a Harry Potter movie on screen. So get out, take the kids, and go see this movie.
