DVD Review Red Dwarf One The Original Series

Doesn’t time fly!

To me it seems barely a decade since the first time I watched Red Dwarf 1, yet it was actually broadcast in the early months of 1988.

Although Rob Grant and Doug Naylor believed that their book Red Dwarf would make a very good science fiction based comedy series it took three years for the BBC to agree with them.

Thankfully the BBC found enough money to make this series, and what’s more they found a very apt cast as well. Picking Craig Charles as Lister, Chris Barrie as the really annoying Rimmer, and Danny John-Jules was simply inspired.

Perhaps you would be hard pushed to find anybody less suitable to be the last surviving human than Lister, yet that helps to make Red Dwarf so funny in the first place!

The six highly entertaining episodes include The End, Future Echoes, Balance of Power, Waiting for God, Confidence & Paranoia, and Me2.
