The Deadly Nadder: Poison spikes, long tail, multicolored – This is the bird of the dragons. From its magnesium fire to its razor-sharp spines on its tail, this is a rundown on the ins and outs of a Deadly Nadder.
The Deadly Nadder is a very colorful dragon, envied by many. Its scales, which come in every color from blue, to pink, to red, to black help attract a mate, stand out, and, in some cases, camoflauge in its habitat. Its overall appearance is similar to a bird’s; its forelimbs are wings, its rear limbs are powerful legs that can perch, run at very high speeds, or give a good thrashing if necessary, and it has four talons on both legs in most cases. It has a long, sturdy tail, similar to Velociraptor’s, and a large, strong jaw.
The Nadder’s head is very large, and is a round shape. It has a single large nose horn, as well as a row of about 7 spikes around the back of the top of its head, protecting its neck. Due to the horn, and the placement of the small eyes, the Deadly Nadder cannot see directly in front of it; this is its “blind spot”. It will turn its head to attempt to get a better view of the object in front of it.
The legs are powerful, and provide the strength necessary for running at high speeds, clawing, kicking, and holding the Nadder up. Since these two legs alone hold up the entire weight of the dragon, the Deadly Nadder generally has the strongest legs. There are four talons on each foot, with three in front and one to the outer side of the foot. In some Nadders, five talons have been witnessed on each foot, three in front, one to the outer side, and one heel claw in back.
The Nadder’s wings are not as big as a Night Fury’s, despite the size of the Nadder itself in comparison. It is not as good a flier as a Night Fury, but it is very swift on the ground. It can easily outrun any other dragon. When it does fly, it doesn’t glide very often, but instead continually flaps its wings.
The tail is one of the most amazing and versatile parts of the dragon. It can be used to spear fish, to strike a foe, to instantly launch hundreds of sharp spines at anything, and for balancing the dragon. When a Deadly Nadder is angry or frightened, it will bristle up its tail, causing hundreds of spikes to stand on end. This alone is usually enough to scare off a challenger. These spines are easily one of the most deadly weapons at a Nadder’s disposal.
Deadly Nadder fire has long been renowned for being the hottest known dragon fire, hot enough to melt rocks and metal, and turn full-grown trees to ash in a matter of seconds. A magnesium-fueled flame, it is very rarely released in fireballs, but instead is usually used in the manner of a stream of fire. This is yet another weapon at the Nadder’s disposal.
Deadly Nadders usually have a vain side, and spend most of their free time preening themselves. They seem to prefer to eat chicken, turkey, and other poultry. They will eat most kinds of fish, though like the other dragon species, they despise eel.
These dragons usually travel in “flocks”. These flocks will hunt together, work together to corner prey, like sheep, pigs, cows, or chickens, and they will also get together to help each other raise eggs and young. The eggs always have a different color. Usually this color is similar to the scale colors of the parents, but other colors have been witnessed, like a red egg being born to a green parent and a turquoise parent. The parents will cover the eggs in sharp, poisonous spines, so as to deter predators. The young do not develop their spikes until later on, but they are born with nearly fully-developed legs. This allows them to get around quite easily, even from birth.
Deadly Nadders are the show-offs of the dragon world. With many different colors, various weapons at their disposal, and quite a bit of agility on the ground, these dragons are what you want if you want color.
