Maria Full of Grace

                The movie began by showing the job of Maria at a flower plantation. She worked there along with many other people. Their job was to basically prepare roses to ship out. Her job was to take the thorns off the roses. After arguing with her boss, she is seen with her boyfriend. She tries to climb up a roof to see the view but her boyfriend opposes. Later she goes to see her mother and older sister at the pharmacy and is forced to give part of her paycheck to buy medicine for her older sister’s son. Maria tells them that she quit her job because she did not like the conditions at the flower plantation. She lives in a small house with her grandmother, mother, older sister, and her nephew. It is very crowded but during the weekend there are parties in the neighborhood and she likes being part of it but her boyfriend doesn’t. She meets someone called Franklin and dances with him. The next day she meets up with her boyfriend and tells him that she’s pregnant and he offers to marry her just because she is pregnant. They break up and she has to take a bus to go to the capital to find work.

                While waiting she meets Franklin again and he lets her get on his motorcycle to go to Bogotá. He tells her of a job of taking drugs to the U.S. and she agrees. They go to meet Javier, who arranges the trips, at a bar. Maria accepts and Javier gives her money to keep. On the bus, she meets someone who was in the bar too and befriends her. Lucy, who was at the bar, tells her to practice by swallowing grapes. Maria finds out that her best friend, Blanca, also decides to do the same job.

After swallowing the 62 pills, which contain the heroin, she gets on the plane and discovers 3 other “mules” are on the same flight; Blanca, Lucy, and another one. During the flight, Lucy appears to be getting sick. After landing, one is arrested and Maria is stopped for questioning. Customs eventually releases her because they cannot do x-rays on a pregnant woman. They go to a motel with 2 men and have to get the pills out of their systems. Lucy get worse and during the night, Lucy and the 2 men are gone and Maria looks at the bathtub and sees blood, meaning that they opened up Lucy to get the heroin. Maria and Blanca flee to meet the sister of Lucy. When they get there, Blanca leaves and Maria is given a place to stay at Lucy’s sister’s house.

The next day Blanca returns and Lucy’s sister takes them to a man who can help them find a place to stay. When Maria and Blanca meet the man, Mr. Fernando, they tell him their story and want to know information about Lucy. He tells them that he can find them a job at a sewing place. They leave and Maria goes to an ultrasound technician to see her baby. Later Mr. Fernando tells them they found a body opened up and is believed to be a mule. He tells them he has to know more information to file a police report and they give the information.

                What would probably happen next is that they will try to live in America and rebuild their lives and try to cooperate with the police about the case with Lucy. She will probably tell Lucy’s sister the truth. That is my opinion about what will happen next.
