Roll Model: The Adventures of Bill and Ted

The Adventures of William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and “Ted” Theodore Logan brings us not only some righteous dudes but some excellent role models. What makes these two personalities so extraordinary is not exactly their intelligence but their determination and their resourcefulness. They follow their hearts and work to achieve their goals.

They live in San Dimas, California. Bill and Ted are best friends and form the group, the “Wyld Stallyns” and are learning to play guitar. Unfortunately they are flunking history and have to “A”ce their oral presentation or Ted gets sent off to military school in the state of Alaska. They then meet up with Rufus, which unknown to them is not by chance and he introduces them to the time machine which sets them on their adventure.

They meet Billy the Kid, Socrates, Napoleon, Sigmund Freud, Ludwig van Beethoven, Genghis Khan, Joan of Arc, and Abraham Lincoln. They learn something from all of them.

Bill proves that he is mechanically inclined as he fixes the time machine when the antenna gets broken; he also comes up with ideas to get their historic group out of jail. Ted is the communicator, as he finds ways to communicate with their historic figures. They also make a very good team, and are very good listeners. Like any high school kids they show that they like to have fun, and are definitely dreamers as well as doers.

The one other thing that can be said about them is that they learn from their experiences. Bill and Ted do get carried away with things they are interested in and can get a little distracted, but they can look at a situation and sum up what they need to reach their goal. Despite the amount of brains they have they become aware of their situation when the need arrives. They prove that two ordinary guys can do the most astonishing things. The one of thing they prove to us all, if they can do it, so can you.
