Dane Cook and Jessica Alba in Good Luck Chuck
A review of the romantic comedy released in 2007. It exposed a little more of the actresses than mom would have liked.
Good Luck Chuck was a movie that, in a way was one of a kind. Dane Cook plays a dentist who, in fulfilment of a hex a gothic girl put on him while he was 12, loses every girl he has sex with to the next guy, whom she marries. Rating for this movie were so-so and it was more aimed at the young adult crowed, because of all the graphic nudity, I do not believe it would be one that you would want to take your grandmother to.
At a wedding Dane Cook meets a girl who is clumsy and outgoing, played by Jessica Alba. He is enamored by her and falls for her immediatly. She turns him down but they are re-united when she needs some emergency dental work, then a jump start to her car, and finaly a ride home because her keys were lock in her now running car. Meanwhile, “Chuck” continues to have sex with many differant women, whom have heard the secret about him. They want to get married. He eventualy is convinced by his perverted friend (”Stu”) that if he has sex with “Cam” (Alba), then he will lose her forever. Much to his dismay, he tests his curse and sets off to find the most digusting, least likley to marry, woman in the world. he has sex with her (ew) and feels confident that she will prove the curse wrong. Chuck manages to keep in touch with Cam durring this time with frequent phone conversations, pretending to be sick.
While waiting for the fate of his curse, he begins to get very paranoid and practicaly stalks Cam. He grows pathetic in his attempts and Cam begins to get very creeped out. At one point, after consulting the adult version of the girl who put a curse on him, he confronts her on an airplane for “wanting to marry” a married author whom she really just shares a penguin facination with. It turns out she really does like him. They get together at the end of the movie, (after 10 or 12 sex scenes throughout) and everyone is happy.
I’d give this movie a 6 out of 10. The acting in it is a little silly and there is times where you feel like you’re watching a soft porno, but all in all the movie is enjoyable. Personaly I thought that both Alba and cook did a decent job portraying the roles of their character ( despite Alba’s “dis-honerable” mention ) This is a movie for young people and penguin lovers.
