I first came across Ocado when at university, it was new to me as I had never been in a Waitrose before (Ocado sells some Waitrose brands being part of the John Lewis partnership) coming from a town where there wasn’t one for many miles. Ocado were absolutely wonderful for me as they would deliver to my college within the one hour time slot (unlike some other supermarkets who only give a 2 hour slot and often miss it from what I’ve heard) that meant I could book a delivery around my lectures and be fully assured that it would come during that time. To this day, aside from when we had a number of feet of snow (when the delivery still got through despite us being in a rural area, just an hour late and the poor driver too around 30 minutes to then dig himself out of the snow to escape our street!) Ocado have never been late. If they have been early they have rung to make sure it is okay to deliver early (more often than not it’s been better for us when they’ve offered an earlier delivery and it’s never been more than 30 minutes early).
The range of foods offered is extremely good. Waitrose own brand is especially good quality from fresh fruit and vegetables to tinned staples such as tomatoes. I can buy a Waitrose brand and guarantee it will be as good quality, if not better than the most well known brands. The Ocado own brand is a little bit more hit and miss than Waitrose-in my experience the veg seems to be slightly smaller and last less time but it is less expensive.
The fruit and vegetables are always fresh and keep for a number of days. They stock organic and fairtrade in many products.
The only criticism I would have of their service is the odd time I’ve received heavy potatoes in the same bag as cartons of oat milk while some bags come with just one item in. I have noticed people have brought this to their attention though and they did say via their Facebook page it was being looked into. The past couple of deliveries haven’t had any squashed items so fingers crossed!
