“Being Flynn” (2012) was adapted from a true story based on the work of Nick Flynn’s memoir. The film tells the story of a young man who works as a social worker in Boston homeless shelter and then was reunited with his father in trouble.

Being Flynn (2012) movie synopsis: 

Loss of a mother figure for Nick Flynn (Paul Dano) is something very heavy. Jody (Julianne Moore) is not just for Nick’s mother. The strong woman is also to be a father figure who had never been present in the life of Nick. Now, as Nick’s psychological condition has not fully recovered, suddenly appeared a figure that had he never expected, a man who had been away from the life of Nick.

Jonathan (Robert De Niro) is not an ideal father figure. His private life was far from clean. Several years ago, Jonathan is always considered himself a poet of a sudden go out and makes Jody ‘caring for their children alone. Jonathan is now up again and hopes to fix everything. Jonathan hope Nick can take it as a father.

Obviously this is not something easy for Nick, especially now he is trying to establish a serious relationship with Denise (Olivia Thirlby). Jonathan’s presence will only mess up everything that is being constructed Nick. Unfortunately, fate can not be rejected and Nick slowly began to realize that this time he made a great decision that will change his life once his father’s way of life as well.
