Once in awhile a movie will come along and I will think to myself, I didn’t even realize that happened! I have to admit I knew Hitler’s reign was taken back by most, but I had no idea that there were several attempts to take him out. After watching Valkyrie I felt much more informed as well as entertained on a higher level then when I walked into the theater. Tom Cruise delivers what I believe a great acting job, but lacks the accent of the Germans. He has always made me feel his role as any character unlike most other actors.
Valkyrie starts off during the Hitler reign and progresses through the movie about the attempts on his life. What I was so blind to was the fact that Hitler was so in control of his country. Which in my mind is why their were so many attempts to assassinate Hitler. This movie showed me the ins and outs of how the plan almost succeeded. Probably the most informative part of this movie is the detail in trying to take over Hitler’s empire. Mr. Cruise is willing to sacrifice his life as well as his Families life for that pursuit of freedom from Hitler.
The most enjoyable part of this whole movie was learning how they got so close but yet so far away from succeeding. I wonder why in, at least my 17 years of schooling, no one ever taught or showed me that these events occurred. It was truly fascinating to watch as the plot unfolds during this great edgy movie!
