Unstoppable, loosely based on true events known as “Crazy Eights“. Was it the thriller it was made out to be?
- In a nutshell:
Unstoppable follows the adventures of Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington) and Will Colson (Chris Pine). Will, a newcomer to the world of trains, is assigned to a train with Frank Barnes, a 28 year veteran. Amazingly, Will is assigned as the conductor, while Frank is only the engineer. Will recently had a restraining order filed against him by his wife, and is unable to see his kid. While Will and Frank go about their duties, Dewey (Ethan Suplee), a yard worker, moves train number 777 off a track. However Dewey forgets to change the track to the correct one, setting the train on a course down the same track, directly at a train transporting a school field trip. Dewey hops off the train, but the train takes off without him, thus starting the massive rush to stop it.

From the previews, I didn’t have very high hopes for this movie. But after getting talked into seeing it by a friend, I was gripped. This movie holds one of the top spots in my list of favorite movies. From the edge-of-your-seat suspense to the witty banter between characters, I was always waiting to see what came next. I couldn’t get enough, and I’m planning on seeing it again soon. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.
