Twilight’s Beach

Mhabalipuram beach with its temples and carvings reveal a beautiful past, a proud culture.

In the Indian city of Chennai, beach is the most sought after picnic spot. Mahabalipuram beach and the temples built on the beach are marvels that leave you breathless.

The above picture was clicked at twilight. The waves take on a pinkish hue in the fading light. It casts a magic spell.

The narrow passages between two temples present an eerie picture when it starts getting dark.

The sculptures take you to a bygone era and you simply stand and stare at the voiceless utterances of the men and women ensconced in them.

Only when you see the shops selling beads and knick-knacks, and get choked in the oil smoke of the beachside open restaurants, the present bares itself.
