Twilight: Women Love a Mediocre Film

How did it come to this point where poor films are the best ones?

Everyone has read, seen, heard about or even loved the Twilight series. Tough, it is not consensual that it is any good. The common stereotype is that women absolutely adore this film and men absolutely detest it, which is not a misconception.

I can’t figure out why do women like this film. It starts off by being based poorly written books, aimed at some people I haven’t still figured out who they are. Neither I nor Stephenie Meyer thought this kind of book would reach such exaggerated sales for this kind of weak literature. You can’t blame the producers for trying to make a film based on a best-seller, what you can do is blame them for not dropping this idea when they realized the unfortunate material they were dealing with.

And the acting is just the worst thing ever. Two actors who cannot at least save this movie by actually acting well. Instead, they invest on their looks so that the 12 year-olds think it was great. Well, you can fool the kids but you can’t fool adults (or even teens), can you? So I thought. Now I see how the whole world has surrendered to this second (or third) -rate master-piece.

There are so many better films out there, even romantic ones, the ones you’d expect women would like, but still, they enjoy watching a film where the girl doesn’t know if her boyfriend will kiss her or suck her blood to her death.

This story is absolutely crazy, also. Not the fact that they are vampires but the fact that the girls value is her blood, thus rendering her to a material, or an object. So women like movies where the feminine characters are objects? This aspect, which combined to the sexual theme of this film (highly inappropriate for 13 year-olds) and the strange attitudes of the main character which are (always) interpreted as romantic, creates a whole image that is reflected on modern promiscuous youth.

I never hated this movie without a reason, and there are many others who may think just how I do.
