Top Ten Monty Python Songs
Ten of the most ridiculous Monty Python songs ever.
Image via Wikipedia
The men of the Monty Python crew are known for their utterly silly and downright hilarious antics. The ridiculous wit and unabashed immaturity of this British comedy troupe have made millions of people laugh for decades. Throughout their television skits, CDs and movies, there are songs that are so stupid that you almost feel stupid for laughing at them. However, one just can’t help but bust a gut when the Monty Python boys sing their songs. Listed here are, what I find to be, the ten funniest Monty Python songs ever. Enjoy.
Funniest Monty Python Song # 10: “Brave Sir Robin”
In “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” there was a character by the name of Sir Robin. Sir Robin was a bit of a pansy, but didn’t like to admit it. He pranced around with a group of minstrels who would sing for him on his journeys. They sang one song called “Brave Sir Robin” that effectively taunted Sir Robin and placed him in various situations where he was injured or mutilated.
Funniest Monty Python Song #9: “I Like Chinese”
This song first appeared on Monty Python’s “Contractual Obligation” album. It is a song about the wonderful traits that Chinese people have (such as, only coming up to our knees). It also expounds the wonders of Chinese culture. Complimentary and at the same time vaguely insulting, “I Like Chinese” is classic Monty Python.
Funniest Monty Python Song #8: “Eric the Half-a-Bee”
Well, there is no way to describe this song. I’m not sure that it has any meaning or purpose. I can tell you that it is off of Monty Python’s “Previous Record” album. I can also tell you that it’s about a Half-a-Bee? Possibly?
Funniest Monty Python Song #7: “Isn’t it Awfully Nice to Have a Penis?”
This delightfully funny and disappointingly short song is from Monty Python’s “The Meaning of Life.” This song uses just about every euphemism and naughty word for penis that existed in the English language, at the time. It also does a great job of reminding you that it really is awfully nice to have a penis.
Funniest Monty Python Song #6: “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”
This song is from Monty Python’s “The Life of Brian.” What really makes this song and its lyrics so funny is the fact that the song is sung by a group of men that are hanging from crucifixes, awaiting their deaths.
Funniest Monty Python Song #5: “Camelot Song”
This Monty Python gem is from “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” The song occurs when King Arthur and his knights are trying to decide if they would like to go to Camelot, which turns out to be a silly place. For me, the line “I like to push the pram a lot” did it and I laughed hysterically. I have laughed at this song every time I have heard it since, as well.
Funniest Monty Python Song #4: “Traffic Lights”
To be honest, I put this song on the list because it seems to be very popular. Whenever I get into a conversation about Monty Python, this song comes up. For me, it’s funny, but not as funny as many other Monty Python songs. But, what the hell, the masses have to be right sometimes.
Funniest Monty Python Songs #3: “Every Sperm is Sacred”
“Every Sperm is Sacred” is from Monty Python’s “The Meaning of Life.” It is a quirky look at the Catholic view of pregnancy and abortion. With lines like “You’re a Catholic the moment dad came.” People without Christian morals will find this song to be very funny.
Funniest Monty Python Songs #2: “The Lumberjack Song”
All that needs to be said about this song from Monty Python’s Flying Circus is: ” I put on women’s clothing and hang around in bars.” Classic.
Funniest Monty Python Song #1: “Sit on my Face”
Yeah, the title of this song from Monty Python’s “The Meaning of Life” says it all. Listen to it and laugh.

Being British, and of the ‘age’ of Pyhtonesque, I remember all of these with fond memories. My Dad would make us watch all the films and programmes endlessly, to which I am now eternally grateful as they have become such classics.
Thanks for reminding me what a load of weirdos this lot actually were!
Hey, no problem, Kinkyvinyl. These weirdos are some of my favorite comedians of all time.
