10. Charlie Bartlett
What made this movie so great was how likable the main character, Charlie Bartlett, was. Charlie was just an attention seeking high school student who had been expelled from every private school because of his antics. After someone came to him for help due to an anxiety issue, Charlie went to his psychiatrist and gave the symptoms the boy had and he was prescribed medication. Charlie realized he could help people by getting meds and prescribing them. This movie is very easy to watch and has many memorable moments. I would recommend this movie to anyone who has gone through high school.
9. I Am Legend

I Am Legend was another movie exploring the thought of an apocalypse through a disease that made people kill others. The creatures that were created were more like vampires than zombies in the fact that sunlight burned their skin. They were pack hunters that could think logically, and on several occasions showed just how dangerous thinking can be. The characters that are in most of the movie are easy to bond with and easy to relate to.
8. Singin’ In The Rain

The reason Singin’ In The Rain is on this list is because of the sheer musical genius of this film. From a song that makes me enjoy getting wet in a storm to one that reminds me that humor really is the best medicine, everything about this movie is flawless. By far, this is one of the best musicals ever made.
7. Kill Bill Vol. 1

Kill Bill was the epitome of Quentin Tarantino movies. It had great action but still a solid, although exaggerated, storyline. The filming styles, like the silhouette scene during the hotel, were stunning. The fight scenes with the other members of the assassination squad were not lacking and it left a perfect bridge for the second volume to use.
6. Kill Bill Vol. 2

From the bride determined to exact her revenge to the characters determined to kill her this movie was outstanding. While this movie had a bit less action than the first movie what it had was more story. It delved into The Bride’s training with Pai Mei and actually showed why Ellie Driver was missing her eye. It ends the series nicely with The Bride finishing what she set out to do.
5. Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump had one of the greatest story lines of the movies on this list. The movie is told from Forrest’s point of view. This movie has a romance theme, but is not something that could be considered a chick flick. The characters in the movie are more different than the next. Forrest’s true love Jenny, who he met as a young child, Bubba, the man who became his best friend in the Vietnam War, Lt. Dan, his commanding officer, and several others made this movie cinematic perfection.
4. The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank Redemption is about a man who was wrongly convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. During his sentence he meets a man named Red who has a knack for getting in any type of contraband. After giving a guard solid financial advice he convinces them to expand the library. After being imprisoned for two decades he finally escapes. When Red gets out on parole he remembers that Tim Robbins told him where he would be and the two are reunited. Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman make this movie great with solid acting and perfect characters.
3. Avatar
![]()
James Cameron’s epic film had some of the best visuals I have ever seen in any movie. The 3d effects were not overdone to the point that everything was flying at you and making you push back in your seat but they simply made you feel as if you were on the moon of Pandora. With a story that entertained for the entire three hours you will leave the movie with a feeling of bliss. Avatar was by far the best movie of 2009.
2. V for Vendetta

The story of V for Vendetta set it apart from most other movies. After being terribly scarred from an experiment V seeks to exact his revenge on the government of England. Over the course of a year his plan comes to action. With several turning points in this story you never feel bored. This movie has earned the rank of number two on my list.
1. Fight Club

Fight Club is based around an underground Fight Club that forms after the main character meets Tyler Durden. During the course of the movie the fight club turns into a group started by Tyler Durden called Project Mayhem. The plot twist in the movie is unrivaled by any other movie I have ever seen and the action continues to build until the very end of the movie. After the narrator finds out about who Tyler actually is my jaw literally dropped. Without a doubt this was the best movie I have ever seen and deserves to be number one on my list and on any list. Definitely a cult classic.
