Top 50 Movies From The Past 10 Years (40-31)

Top 50 Movies.

40.
Shrek 2 (2004)

Shrek 2 is a very good animated movie, and a great sequel. I’ve seen this movie about six times. Great film. It develops the characters from the first movie as any good sequel should do, adding new ones that help to illuminate the old ones, but also shine forth in their own way. Characters such as Prince Charming and Puz ‘n’ Boots come to mind. For those of you shocked to see animated films on here…just remember that I was 14 in 2004. I was still a child for half of the decade.

39.
Minority Report (2002)

One of the best sci-fi movies to come out this decade, this movie stars Tom Cruise. You might know of him. He is a crazy person in real life, but in movies he plays crazy people also. If you’ve never seen this movie, or have never heard of it…what is your problem? Its Tom Cruise! He is the most mainstream crazy person out there! Its directed by Stephen Speilberg! Name one movie he directed that wasn’t good.

38.
The Bourne Identity (2002)

This is one of those rare movies that is better than the book its based on. Matt Damon plays an assassin suffering from amnesia. Why am I bothering to give a synopsis…? Is there anyone out there who has really never seen this movie? This is the best of the three in my opinion, since it has Clive Owen in it. Oh you didn’t know? He’s the sniper guy. Oh ya ok you remember now.

37.
Corpse Bride (2005)

Another great animated film, I saw this during driver’s ed. I remember groaning and thinking oh this is that stupid movie by that guy who is a total freak. And boy was I wrong. This is a masterpiece. Stop-motion-animation still survives in the digital age thanks to TIm Burton.

36.
Monster’s Inc. (2001)

This movie was so great. Pixar never fails. Seriously. Name one pixar movie that wasn’t good. A movie about the monsters that live under kids beds. Its so brilliant. I love it.

35.
Cars (2006)

Another brilliant movie from Pixar. This is another great movie by them that excels in storytelling, visual design, characters, voice acting, and humor.

34.
Children of Men

The best Sci-Fi movie of the decade. Without question this movie is a masterpiece of cinematography. There is a continuous shot in this movie that lasts over six minutes. (Technical note: This is a British film directed by a Mexican, but it was produced by an American company IN AMERICA. Films by Danny Boyle were produced in Britain. Since I love this movie so much I am saying it can be included. Its my list. Deal with it.)

33.
The Departed

I have a poster for this movie up in my dorm room. Best gangster film of the decade. Thats how good it is. I still flip out every time i see *spoilers* and then he *spoilers* in the face. And *spoilers* blood *spoilers* elevator.

32.
The Passion of the Christ

This movie is a visual masterpiece. Despite being produced by a devoted Catholic (and apparently anti-semetic) Mel Gibson, it was pretty right on. This was also one of the most controversial movies I can ever remember. That’s because it presents the story of history’s greatest hero. I cried when I saw the portrayl of my Savior hanging on the cross, and I cheered when the tomb was empty. See. Its another cheerful movie. Remember? From entry 47?

31.
Miracle

Great sports movie. Why? Its based on a true story. Its also about totally sticking it to the Russians. I remember a friend telling me that he saw a woman crying while watching this movie because she had actually witnessed the event. Apparently it was beautiful for her to see the stars and stripes triumph over the hammer and sickle. You want to cheer about the Soviet Union getting its ass whoopd? Watch this movie.
