Top 10 Movies at The Box Office 101910
Did Social Network keep the top spot? Did a new movie make it to number one? You can find out in this article.
Social Network was number one at the box office for two weeks. Unfortunately, its time at number one has come to an end. There’s a new number one movie in the top 10. Jackass 3-D is the number one movie at the box office. The movie made $50 million in its debut. This is the highest grossing debut ever for the month of October. I think it being played in 3-D played a part in the numbers that it made. This had a better opening than Jackass ($22.8 million) and Jackass Number Two ($29 million). I didn’t see either one of these so I most likely won’t be seeing the new one either.
The other new release in the top 10 was the action movie Red. It debuted at number two with over $22 million. This movie reunites Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman. I saw this movie this weekend and it wasn’t too bad. It also stars Helen Mirren, Mary Louise-Parker, and John Malkovich. It’s easy to forget that Morgan Freeman is in this movie based on the trailers for it. The trailers focus more on Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and Mary Louise-Parker. They seem to forget that Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman are in the movie. As I said, I saw this one and it is an action comedy.
Last week’s number one movie Social Network slipped to number three with $11 million. It lost 29% of its audience, but it held on strong. The movie has made over $63 million since it was released. I still haven’t seen this movie yet. I will get around to it eventually.
Secretariat slipped to number four with over $9 million. It had the smallest second week drop out of all the movies that debuted this year. It lost only 25% of its audience. The movie has made over $27 million since its debut. The movie is on its way to making its $35 million budget. I wasn’t sure if it was going to make its budget since it is a family film about horse racing, but it just may make its budget after all.
Last week’s number two movie Life As We Know It slid down to number five. The movie made over $9 million at the box office. It lost over 36% of its audience. Luckily the budget for this movie is only $38 million. Maybe the people behind this movie will still make a small profit. I think they may be lucky to break even with this movie. I’m sure the makers thought it would have made more money than this.
Here are the top 10 movies at the box office:
1 Jackass 3-D – 50 million*
2 Red – 22.5 million*
3 Social Network – 11 million
4 Secretariat – 9.5 million
5 Life As We Know It – 9.2 million
6 Legends Of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole – 4.2 million
7 The Town – 4 million
8 My Soul To Take – 3.1 million
9 Easy A – 2.6 million
10 Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps – 2.3 million
