THE Raid “Film Indonesia”s Success in The U.s

An action movie that provides martial arts martial arts typical of Indonesia, to achieve success in the U.S.

Sony Pictures Classics are enjoying one of their decisions to buy the rights to distribute the Indonesian action movie THE RAID: Redemption, with promising gains in the first week of screenings. Gareth Evans filmed action movie, starring Iko Uwais, Ray Sahetapy, and Donny Alamsyahini success earned revenues of U.S. $ 220 937 in 24 theaters with an average revenue per site of 15 181 U.S. dollars or about 144 million dollars since the screening date of March 23 .

With production costs only about 1 million dollar, THE RAID proved able to compete with the film The Hunger GAMES classmates in the path the same schedule. This would be an achievement for an independent action movie that has received an award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The story of the film itself is about a group of specialized SWAT teams are trapped in a building occupied by the crime boss. By highlighting the action of martial arts, martial arts unique to Indonesia, this film received very positive criticism from the critics. In the film critic website, Rotten Tomatoes, THE RAID got 86% fresh rating, which means almost the same as the score of The Hunger GAMES.

Indonesia now is the time human beings can act and show the world that Indonesia is also able to compete with other Countries, to make a good movie
