The Other Sister is a movie about a mentally challenged woman named Carla Tate. She gets sent to a school (after it is known that she has a severe developmental delay) and then once she comes home she seeks to prove she can be independent.
Carla goes through some obstacles. A major obstacle is her own mother who tries to control her life for the sake of protecting her. However, Carla wants independence and she hopes to seek it by going to a technical school and by getting her own apartment.
In the school Carla meets a man named Daniel aka Danny, who is also mentally challenged and they fall in love with each other. Now, they want to start a life of their own but Danny’s father is refusing to pay Danny’s rent since he failed his class in the technical school. It’s up to Carla and Danny to figure out how to provide for themselves and prove they can be independent.
The movie is a decent one. I watched it a long time ago and have just recently watched it now. It’s one of those cute little flicks when you need an “aw” moment. The acting was decent and a lot better than the acting I see in movies now. The movie itself I rate an 8 out of 10.
