Last night these prestigious awards were presented and there were no real surprises. The King’s Speech, along with Inception, won four awards. The Social Network received three awards and Toy Story, Alice in Wonderland and The Fighter were awarded two awards.
The King’s Speech was awarded the Oscar to the Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor among other awards. Natalie Portman received the Oscar for the Best Actress thanks to her excellent performance in Black Swam, a thriller where she had to acquire a lot of skills and portray all the feelings that her character feels; something that I think she did magnificently.
The Best Supporting Actor and Actress went to The Fighter and The Social Network was only left with Best Writing-Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Score. This result left Jesse Eisenberg without his award for Best Actor. Another disappointment of the night was the underperformance of True Grit, a movie which had ten nominations but left the ceremony with no awards.
