” The Mechanic: Should Hollywood Even Bother to Remake Some Movies”

With the classic Bronson flick remake being released soon, I take a look at whether the movies with the serious plot twists at the end should be off any ones list to try and remake.

Surfing the Net a few weeks ago I got the shock of my Movie going life when I read that Jason Stathen was staring in a remake of the Classic  Bronson action flick the Mechanic. This is one of my favorite all time guy flicks and sense I am sensitive to remakes of movies and music in general , I thought Id put together a list of twenty of my all time plot twist endings and let you all decide if they could or should be remade .

Starting out in no particular order of importance , the Kevin Costner political thriller ” No way Out” in which Costner is trying to stay one step ahead of the secretary of State while he tries to prove that he murdered their mutual Mistress Sean Young. Now I ask you , is there any way that you could remake this story any better then they did it the first time.  Costner turning out to be the actual deep cover Russian agent that Gene Hackman was using as a cover story about who killed Sean Young, nobody saw that coming. No way they could do this one justice.

” The Usual suspects” , A Crime drama with a Ensemble cast about a mythical crime lord and a hit that turns into a blood bath has always nagged at me. Ill be honest the first time I watched this , i figured out what was going on about half way through it. but the thing that has always gnawed at my soul is that if the Kevin Spacey character masterminded the whole thing, who much of the story he is telling the cop is actually true. All the guy had to do was lure these criminals to the dock as cover he could have done it many ways. the way the story is woven is the key to the whole movie. I suppose another story could be woven but it would take some talented writers to do it so  this one isn’t a candidate for remake

Finally there is ” Body Heat” the 1982 crime drama that made Kathleen Turner a a face , body and a voice to remember in the eighties. I have thought long and hard about this one and while they could remake this one, it would take a lot more sex and given that it would more then likely get an NC 17 rating . no studio would touch it.

Gonna leave this alone for a while . might hit you with part two if there is some interest. by for now
