Songs Guaranteed to Make You Cry

Sad songs say so much!

After the huge success of my article “13 Movies Guaranteed To Make You Cry” it got me thinking that perhaps we are all looking for more excuses to have a really good weep!

Besides, the benefits are quite conclusive and you can read about them in my article “Boys Don’t Cry: But They Should”.

Now I know music is subjective so this list is not the all time list of sad songs by any means; they just happen to be extremely sad to me and hopefully, you might agree with one or two of them also.

So, if you are still in need of inspiration for a really good sob fest – then check out some of these tracks and grab yourself another box of tissues!

Nothing Compares To You – Sinead O’Connor

Your Beautiful/ Goodbye My Lover – James Blunt (actually, this guy could sing ‘Happy

Birthday’ and have me sobbing in my Kleenex.)

Tears in Heaven – Eric Clapton

Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley

Drive – The Cars

Against All Odds/ Don’t Let Him Steal Your Heart Away – Phil Collins

Love Me Tender/ You Where Always On My Mind – Elvis Presley

Unchained Melody – The Righteous Brothers

I Will Always Love You – Whitney Houston

My Heart Will Go on – Celine Dion

When A Man Loves a Woman – Percy Sledge

Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad – Meatloaf

I Dreamed A Dream – Susan Boyle

I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing – Aerosmith

With Or Without You – U2

Everything I Own – Bread

Every track on Lionel Ritchie’s self titled album

And last but by no means least, the music track that never fails to make me blubber uncontrollably is: SAMUEL BARBER’S ADAGIO FOR STRINGS

(You may have heard it in the 1986 movie “Platoon”) In fact, I’m requesting this one to be played at my funeral closely followed by Monty Python’s “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life!”

Hopefully this should be enough to get you going! And please, if I have left your favorites out – leave a comment and I’ll gladly add them to the list.

This is a good list you have here. I also recommend one song titled “I go”, sung by an artist named Aizat.

Nice, I like the number 1 TEARS IN HEAVEN…

Why not try “melodrama” by Andrea Bocelli.

I’ve got it on my iPod Dehan and hearing it is bad enough but watching the actual video turns me into a blubbering mess!
