Sherlock Holmes Beat Mission Impossible
“Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol” was recently screened in 425 IMAX theaters.

Back starring actor Robert Downey Jr.. and Jude Law, the second sequel to ‘Sherlock Holmes’ had topped the box office this weekend. Quoted from page Aceshowbiz, the film titled ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ is earned revenues of about U.S. $ 40 million.
Yet the result was considered a little disappointing because it is lower than the initial estimate of U.S. $ 50 million. Results were also smaller than the first film ‘Sherlock Holmes’ success earned revenues of U.S. $ 62.3 million in the first week of screenings 2009.
President of Warner Domestic Distribution, Dan Fellman optimistic film ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ still has time achieve greater revenues before Christmas. Meanwhile, the family film “Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked ‘landed in second place. With production costs of U.S. $ 80 million, the film pocketing revenues of U.S. $ 23.5 million.
Other new entrants movie, ‘Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol’ success was ranked third with revenues of U.S. $ 13 million. Nevertheless, these results are considered very good considering the movie starring Tom Cruise was only screened in 425 IMAX theaters, before the wider airing on December 21, 2011.
For the record the movie ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked’ played in over 3700 theaters. As for last week’s box office champion, ‘New Year’s Eve’ have slipped to fourth followed by the movie ‘The Sitter at number five.
