Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: The Film Better be Good
A period piece type film of it….not a Shawn of the Dead type.
How may I tell of such a book as this? Thankfully this article isn’t going to be written like it was 19th century. Though I was tempted by the style present within the book I’m reading….you guessed right if you said “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”. A book like this is a gloriously funny gem that doesn’t make you laugh out loud, but more gives you the subtle amusement towards a situation being placed within a literary classic.
The rights for it to be turned into a film were pretty much sold by the time the book was released, but the actual studio that brought it, is still left shrouded in the mysterious mist of the dead. A question that now bugs me from knowing the film is likely to happen in the next few years has come up from watching clips of that BBC series adaption of the original novel, done in the 90’s. Are they going to do like a traditional period piece or more like a Shawn of the Dead type film? Basically the problem is going to be how commercial can they make a film based on a book that uses a period of setting for a Zombie Armageddon.
I kind of hate guessing how they’re going to go with style (How they shoot the film, music and casting), but I question from how studios with any film property need to be able to generate the maximum profit. This book is something teenagers would read for the humour or maybe older, so that means they’ve got to make something that can be targeted to that audience. I would love to see the film done like a traditional period, because the zombie element would just be gold…..but that’s wishful thinking. The fact of the matter is this: The film is likely to be like Shawn of the Dead set in 19th century England. Quick cut editing as they grab their muskets and contemporary music instead of classical (Classical music over a fight-scene would be cool)…..sad fact a fun idea might be ruined to give it a modern feel while still set in that time period.
Thought of the Day: August 8th:
To see ideas differently shall let me see one I’ve done already in a way new….a new twist….a darker twist that doesn’t truly give hope beyond the fact the main character would gain a peace in another form.
