As we have all seen on commercial, there is an upcoming movie called Ponyo. Basically, it’s about a little fish called Ponyo, obviously, who develops a friendship between a 5-year-old boy named Sosuke.
She’s the daughter of the king of the ocean and has the magic of the sea to her use. But somehow having a little ocean princess tips the ‘balance of the universe’ and of course, something goes wrong.
Did I mention that it’s directed by world-acclaimed anime expert Hayao Miyazaki? Some of his works include Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away; which I’m sure you’ve heard of.
It already released in Japan on July and it grossed 165 million dollars.
So it must have been really good, right?
Personally, I don’t really want to watch this movie. Sure, it’s directed by someone who is known worldwide as a very skilled anime-directer but still. Maybe if I’m really bored or something I’ll actually try.
My first thoughts when I saw the commercial was that it was similar to ‘The Little Mermaid’ but with some sort of orange-headed, child-fetish twist.
But don’t listen to me, I think if you are maybe curious about this movie you should totally go and watch it.
What really made me surprised though was the english voice-actor behind Ponyo. She’s Miley Cyrus’ younger sister and that made me, for some reason, shocked.
She has a very high voice..so I guess the Cyrus’ are getting more popular even within the family.
Anyways, Ponyo is released on August 14th. Be sure to save the date!
