Nine Movies with Awesome Endings
Sequel to my Top five Movie Endings Post. No worries, no spoilers will be given.
I posted my top 5 movie endings a while ago on Triond. If you are wondering about those movies and the trailers, you can check them out here.
But thankfully, they are not the only movies with awesome endings. Here are some of my other favorites:

Ben X: I’m working two other posts related to this one. I’ll go into details there but just know that this movie will be worth every second you gave to it.
Cover of The Usual Suspects (Special Editon)
Usual Suspects: Don’t get me wrong. I did write a post on this movie saying it was overrated:
and while I think the movie isn’t overall a masterpiece, it has no doubt one of the most creative endings ever. Watch it. If I give the movie a 7/10 overall, the ending is not a 7. It is a 10.
Cover of Primal Fear
Primal Fear: Richard Gere is defending Edward Norton. This is Edwards’s first major role. The movie is good. Well, it doesn’t matter if you like Richard Gere. A wonderful drama/psychological thriller. Edward Norton was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor role. 7.6 on IMDB. Add this to your to-watch list. You won’t regret it.
Life of David Gale: Well, Kevin Spacey is one of the actors I admire and I make a habit of following his films. But it is not just me. The guy is a terrific actor and most of the time picks brilliant scripts. And yes, this is much beter than The Usual Suspects. You watch the movie, thinking you have it figured out. You get them. Or do you? Wonderful movie. Really great script. Amazing endings. I saw it only once, but it stil haunts me.
The Lazarus Project: Some people are determined not to take Paul Walker seriosuly. Well, the guy has some “unfortunate traits”. For one, he got into acting through one of the world’s most popular soap operas The Young and The Restless. It was on air when I was a kid. And I can’t see the end date. Must be stil going on. But few actors make it big on the big screen coming from TV and Paul made it. So he has something “embarrassing” on his CV and he looks great. And people love to bash pretty boys when it comes to their movies and acting. Put that all aside. Paul Walker is an entertainer. He might not have done “deep” movies or whatever, but his movies have entertained me a great deal. But The Lazarus Project is, no doubt, one of the most underrated thriller-dramas out there. It is rated 6.1 on IMDB. The movie is cool and the ending is even beter. And things aren’t as simple as they are in The Fast& The Furious series.
Cover of The Lookout
The Lookout: And who doesn’t like Joseph Gordon-Levitt? He starred in a romcom when he was a teen, alongside Heath Ledger and it is rated 6.9. Which teen-related romcom was ever a 6.9 on IMDB? Before he was doing movies, he was starring on the hilarious sitcom 3rd rock from the sun. And we all heard about 500 Days of the Summer, a romcom rated at 8. Yes, people like Joseph and his work. Because while he occasionaly gets mainstream, mostly he is all about the role. Watch Mysterious Skin, if you don’t agree. And The Lookout is a thriller/drama in leauge of its own. An ex highschool star suffers from a short-term memory loss after an accident, forcing him to lead a very simple life and work odd jobs. Some baddies want to take advantage and use him in a robbery.7.2 on IMDB. I’d gladly rate at 8. Worth-seeing with a good ending.
Cover of The 24th Day
24th Day: Now, 24th Day might be the best movie listed. Well, I am saying it because it is the direct adaptation of a theater play, written and directed for the screen by the playwright. So we have mostly one setting, 2 actors and no special effects. However we have a thriller. Yep, it one hell of a ride with James Marsden and Scott Speedsman. It is a testament to what can be done with a tiny budget and wonderful actors. If you want to learn more about the plot, you can check my post on the movie. The entire movie is terrific. So is the ending.
Cover of Tangled
Tangled: Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Shawn Hatosy and Rachel Leigh Cook star in this overlooked thriller. The story is told by the victim in the hospital. He has been kidnapped with his girlfriend by a mutual ex friend and tries to tell the police what happened and why. So you watch a romantic/fun/friendship film for a little while. Then excitement and lust take over as our 3rd character is introduced before he has become the villain. And when things go awry, desperation calls for desperate measures. Watch it till the end. The movie is thoroughly enjoyable, with the ending making it beter. It was the first movie I saw all three actors for the first time and tI have remembered them ever since. Cook may not be versatile, but she usually plays in interesting movies. Jonathan Rhys is loved by both American and British Cinema. And Shawn starred in two wonderful movies in their own genre: 11.14 and Soldier’s Girl.

11.14: I saw it and loved it. I have always wanted to write a nice little thriller with fun moments with decent twists and turns. You need to be careful not to cause plotholes and you have to make an effort to keep the audience engaged at all times. Shawn Hatosy and Rachel Leigh Cook are also in this one, accompanied by none other than Patrick Swayze, Barbara Hershey and Hillary Swank. Interesting write again, Zoey.
I like happy endings, hate those endings which leave the viewers to guess what’s the ending, for me, instead of guessing, I will curse..hahha.
It’s quite true.Thanks very much.What a splendid collection.
thanks starpisces.but that’s the thing with these movies. you don’t have to guess but….they are still awesomei See them you will know what I mean. And these ones don’t exaclty need happy endings;)
thanks, obikelvin. I love these movies. they rock.
Interesting movies. Thanks for sharing.
I haven’t seen any of these films but I do know what you mean about movie endings. Some of the most uninteresting films have brilliant endings. I like a happy one. A very good article.
Christine
@deepblue: thanks
@Christine: You should check these out. I can tell you some of them do have happy endings but it doesn’t mean they are not interesting.
Once again somehow I have missed all these titles. Darn, I’m missing all this great and feel good endings. I suppose its time to catch up again soon.
You should so see these, Sharif. But I am not promising happy endings;)
