Nine Feel Good Movies

These movies are for all ages. Feel good movies that you wouldn’t be ashamed to watch with a modest elderly granny nor would you have any embaressing questions to answer if you watched with a child. These movies have pure entertainment value, a good unique story to tell, without utilizing gratuitous violence nor overt sex scenes.

All movies listed are currently available from Amazon.

A Boy Named Charlie Brown
When this now famous classic debuted in 1969, I had to watch it in black and white on an old rounded TV screen.  Years later, as an adult, when I saw it for the first time in full color, I was in awe. The music is as refreshing as the eccentric characters; all children plus one unique dog named Snoopy.   It’s not full of endless chat, there are plenty of scenes with just the music and action, allowing your imagination to soar. One unique thing, is that adults are not seen nor heard, a fine twist for those that see a little of their own childhood in each character, including the pooch.

An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving
Step back into a different time, with beautiful winter scenery, gorgeous costuming and superb acting.  You feel like a bug on the wall, watching every move this family makes.

Grown Ups
A good silly movie for all ages. It puts the fun back in family. Sure there are some Hollow Woody exaggerations, but it’s a twist on modern slapstick comedy.

Keeping Mum
This dark comedy has many twists and angles, a refreshing storyline, like none other.

My House in Umbria
Before this movie is over, you will feel like you too, live in the house in Umbria.

Paulie
This parrot tale is lively and entertaining.  Not a cartoon, it’s a regular movie, but the  exquisite puppetry of the parrot makes it nearly impossible to tell the faux from the real.

Princess Protection Program
This uneven fanciful movie is both realistic and quixotic.   The culture crash is an eye opening reminder that sometimes we all need to step out of our comfort zone and live a little.

Santa Who
This comedy has superb acting.  You will believe in Santa Claus all over again, without it getting too mushy.

Waking Ned Devine
A bizarre comedy-drama, that has rich scenery, grounded characters and a capricious plot.
