Narnia The 4Th Movie

All you need to know about the next Chronicles of Narnia movie. Will there be a 4th movie, what will it be, what’s it about and more FAQs answered.

Is there going to be a fourth Narnia Movie?

Talks are in the works for a Chronicles of Narnia 4 Movie! Walden Media who now produce the Narnia films (not Disney since the 2nd movie, Prince Caspian) have stated an interest in extending the series. A script for the next movie has yet to be written so it could be a couple of years before we see anything on the big screen.

What will the fourth Narnia Movie be?

Narnia fans, including myself, wrongly predicted that the next Chronicles of Narnia film would be The Silver Chair because that would fit in with the original book publication order that the movies have been adhering to. Also, Jill Pole, who is a character in The Silver Chair was mentioned at the end of the last Narnia film – The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. So girls have already been doing Jill Pole auditions on YouTube, thinking that the Silver Chair was coming next.

If there is going to be a 4th Movie it will be <a href=”http://www.squidoo.com/narnia-magicians-nephew“>Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew</a>. This is because it is felt that The Silver Chair would not be a commercial success. It’s not one of the better known books and Walden Media need to get the Narnia movies back to being successful blockbuster movies after the series has been in a downwards spiral.

The Magician’s Nephew has always been the 2nd favourite book in the Chronicles of Narnia series, so it will hopefully give the Narnia films the box office success needed so the series can continue.

What’s The Magician’s Nephew about?

The Magician’s Nephew story is a prequel to the Chronicles of Narnia despite the fact that C. S. Lewis penned it as the 6th book out of 7. It is the 2nd most-loved Narnia book and explains more about how Narnia started and where the <a href=”http://www.squidoo.com/ice-witch-narnia“>Narnia Ice Witch</a>, Jadis, came from. It was initially given the title Polly and Digory as it is about these two children having an amazing adventure. The book also explains the origins of the magical wardrobe that appears in The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe.

Book Order of the Chronicles of Narnia

C. S. Lewis wrote a total of 7 books in The Chronicles of Narnia series. It is this original publication order which I would recommend for reading because the books flow much better that way. The books can also be read in a chronological order which follows the dates of events in the books.

Publication order of the Narnia Books

1) The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: 1950
2) Prince Caspian: 1951
3) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: 1952
4) The Silver Chair: 1953
5) The Horse and His Boy: 1954
6) The Magician’s Nephew: 1955
7) The Last Battle: 1956

Chronological order of the Narnia Books

1) The Magician’s Nephew
2) The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
3) The Horse and His Boy
4) Prince Caspian
5) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
6) The Silver Chair
7) The Last Battle

Movie Order of Narnia

1) The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: 2005
2) Prince Caspian: 2008
3) The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: 2010
4) The Magician’s Nephew: ? Not yet made

The Narnia films started to follow the original publication order of the C. S. Lewis books which made sense because they started with the most popular book first which drew in a lot of fans.

When will the Next Narnia Movie come out?

I am predicting a 2013 release date for The Magician’s Nephew and that’s because the script has yet to be written. Hopefully it won’t be any longer. I’m also hoping that they use the Pevensie children and the fabulous Will Poulter who plays Eustace in the next movie as a flashback sequence or cameo role.

Will this be the last Narnia Movie?

I suspect that unless The Magician’s Nephew proves to b a massive blockbuster success then we won’t get any more Narnia movies. That’s why I’m so keen to build awareness and get people interested in the movies – otherwise we won’t get the rest of the films made. So this one’s for Narnia!

Whichever the next Narnia movie would be, it should:

    1) Stick very close to C.S. Lewis’ books; and
    2) Be at least as well engineered as Disney’s movies.

Otherwise, it could cause our family to be leary of future Narnia movies.
